Shommy was an easy designer to work with, always offering just a little bit more. He was very accommadating to even the minor changes. I would have no problems working with Shommy again - thanks for all your help, the design looks brilliant
How Charlottenewyork started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
The Space Exchange
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
we allow landlords or real estate brokers to upload images and descriptions of their SHORT TERM retail spaces or pop up shops. People or retailers looking for short term retail space can come to the site and browse for short term rental spaces for restaurants, bars, vacant lots, retail space etc.
the home page should be a very clean design yet it has to do quite a few things. It should immediately tell people that they are at the 'marketplace for short term space.' what we are trying to do is quite tricky to explain simply but the site still needs to be nice, clean and simple.
I would like two major things on the front page. One; a video describing what we do - much like on the front page of 99 designs. and there should be some rotating images of sites that we have on file, look at http://www.airbnb.com to see an example of what I mean of the large rotating image. The home page is where people will search for the short term space so there has to be a search bar somewhere where they can enter a zipcode as well as the purpose of the space (ie retail, restaurant, filming, office) etc.
There also needs to be the links to the following; contact us, terms and conditions, blog, about us, people who pop. a sign in button needs to be somewhere on the page too
SECOND PAGE: please design a page which delicately provides a list of retail spaces once. so the user will go to the site and search for a space. this second page should be all the spaces that meet that persons criteria. look at how http://www.airbnb.com do it - type in any city and press search and the page that pops up is the page that I would like you to create - basically a nicer version of a basic classifieds listing.
keep it simple but a bit playful. not too corporate. it should convey that this is a site for people to find short term space or temporary retail space or pop up shops hence the name 'the space exchange.' look at http://www.airbnb.com - it does something extremely complex in a very simple way. colors can be fun or simple but regardless keep the site to 2 or 3 colors - unless you think that there should be more.
