We have a directory website where the main function is for brides to find all they need to plan their wedding.
Page example: http://www.guidesforbrides.co.uk/find/wedding-venues/oxfordshire We are looking to change the page layout to have the options of ‘Grid view’ and ‘List view’. Page 1. Grid view: Everything in left column to stay as is (Find a supplier, More precise search and banners) Top of page stays as is (title, text and thumbnail images) Footer stays as is Adverts to be 3 or 4 per row (minimum 20 -24 ads per page) First 3 adverts to stand out as these are ‘featured’ and pay more (do not display the word ‘featured’) Each ad to show - business name, town & county, 50 character strapline, review stars and number of reviews, landscape image (3 x4) Main call to action should be ‘Contact venue’ Our main competitor is Hitched and the site that most brides are finding their way around, so we are aiming for a similar style: http://www.hitched.co.uk/wedding-venues/oxfordshire.htm Page 2. List view: Everything in left column to stay as is (Find a supplier, More precise search and banners) Top of page stays as is (title, text and thumbnail images) Footer stays as is Adverts should be full width of remaining page ie ¾ of page width First 3 adverts to stand out as these are ‘featured’ and pay more (do not display the word ‘featured’) Each ad should display - Business name, town & county, 250 characters of text as on current adverts Image should be either landscape or portrait depending on category (3x4 or 4x3). Within each category they will all be portrait or landscape Remove ‘special’ from ‘special offer’ corner flash Remove ‘add to planner’ Add ‘shortlist’ tick box on each listing Call to action priorities Request brochure Visit website telephone/more info 3. Redesign / update of the “More Info” page for businesses. Based on venues: http://www.guidesforbrides.co.uk/find/wedding-venues/oxfordshire/eynsham-hall/121538 and http://www.guidesforbrides.co.uk/find/wedding-venues/berkshire/the-mill-house-hotel/52239 (which also shows the special offers option) Photo (larger than shown). Allow for landscape image. 50 character strapline ** “Services Provided” about the venue near the top of the page Key points tick list 1500 character description Video Photo gallery (landscape) Opening Hours Map Recommended suppliers Link to Wedding Fairs / Open Days at the venue ** 2 x Special offers Awards and Associations Telephone number Email Weblink Add to Planner button / option Request brochure (main call to action) Reviews It is worth looking at a few venue adverts to see which aspects of the adverts people tend to use - not all parts are used by all clients and it is important that it will still look OK if they don’t use all the features. The 2 features marked ** are new features so you won’t see examples.
What to avoid
