The Funds mission is to encourage media leaders to become aware of their unique societal responsibility in the world today, and to issue a positive call to action. Recognizing that news and entertainment media can fuel both positive and hostile perceptions, there is an urgent need for balanced images of all cultures in the mass media. By bringing the UN and private media together, the Fund strives to highlight the relationship between media images and violence in society, and to help realize positive change in media content through its initiatives.
