GNB got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Create the next website design for Useful Solutions

Useful Solutions has been providing business and computer consulting, IT support and related services to small and medium sized businesses in Melbourne for over 20 years. We perform the requirements analysis, evaluation, selection and implementation of computer systems, as well as providing advice on proposed systems and carry out all aspects of network and system integration plus support.
We would prefer to rely on the designer's creativity.
Our aim: We need a Website that is clean, simple, yet functional and one that will be inviting, attractive and interesting to our visitors. We want to be able to demonstrate to our visitors that we have the necessary skills and experience to help them with all of the technology in their business. Through our broad experience, we want to present to them some of the results we have achieved, to give them confidence in our ability. Requirements: We need 2 pages designed (coding will be a separate process). One will be the ‘Home’ page and the other will be the ‘Some of our work’ page that will be used as a template for all other pages. To completely avoid interference with the creative process, we have deliberately avoided providing any wire-frames or illustrations, but offer detailed descriptions here instead. There will be a total of 5 main pages, so we will need a menu system for navigation. The pages are: Home What we do Why choose us Some of our work IT News It is essential that each page has relevant images to make them all visually appealing and to break up the text. The ‘Home’ page should have an element including our logo, address, phone number (prominently displayed) and our contact email address. It is intended that this element be common to all of the pages. Apart from the image(s) and paragraphs of text on the ‘Home’ page, we would also like to display two separate lists: • Our clients • Some of our results The ‘clients’ will be a vertical list of company names and the ‘results’ will be separated paragraphs, each listing client problems and our corresponding solutions to them. We would like the ‘Home’ page to display in its entirety without scrolling, so each of these lists will be too long to fit on the page. As we don’t want any Flash on the Website, each list will need to be able to scroll when an appropriate control area is clicked on by the visitor. The ‘What we do’ page features image(s) and a paragraph of text, followed by the six main areas of our work, each shown as a link on the page. These links could be graphics. When one of these links is clicked, it takes the visitor to the relevant page that contains the details of that work. ‘Why choose us’ comprises image(s) and paragraphs of text. The ‘Some of our work’ page features image(s) and some paragraphs of text, followed by 11 industry names, illustrating the range of work we have done. The industry names are: Retailing Wholesaling Manufacturing Importing Clothing Food industry Legal practice Accountancy Medical practice Education & Training Computer disputes Each of these industry names is a link, which could be a graphic. When clicked, each of these links takes the visitor to the relevant page that contains details of the work done in that industry. The ‘IT News’ page comprises image(s) and paragraphs of text.
Target audience: We would like to attract small to medium sized businesses to our Website and we want to give them a positive impression of our company, one that is professional. Additional requirements: • All font files used should be included • The source of any images recommended • No Flash please • No coding is required at this stage • Our logo can be found at us.com.au
