Cover art for left-leaning political podcast w broad moral appeal to all Americans(but not Trumpers)
Check out cgjackson07's Poster contest…
A left-leaning podcast about the 2020 election and wider American political environment that eschews the traditional tribal outrage over any particular policy or ideological disagreement, and radically dares to suggest rational political strategies for both sides that would lead to a better world for everyone.
What's your vision?
I need a high-quality podcast cover art that conveys intelligence, respectfulness, seriousness, trustworthiness, and insight--while avoiding the implication that the podcast is merely advocating "centrist" ideology (i.e. a blend of left and right wing viewpoints). I am a liberal who will largely avoid getting into the weeds of any particular policy, talking very high-concept political strategy for both sides in a way few have likely heard before. This means I will also not be advocating political fluff like "rejecting both parties" or "forming third parties". Being radically rational doesn't mean believing both sides are equally valid; it represents a desire to learn how to cut through the tricks both sides use to manipulate you and determining for yourself who deserves the trust it takes to build a better society. The design should probably be as minimalist as possible to convey the seriousness/broadness of the topics I discuss, and the colors red, white, and blue should be pretty much a given since it's a political podcast about American politics specifically, has the word "America" in the title, and consists of 3 words of approximately similar length. The color scheme ideally would be based around red, white, & blue. I will be the host, and most of it will be solo narration, but I'm trying to avoid making my personality the center of the show...the show is about the message, and de-emphasizing myself to an appropriate degree is how I think I would convey the impression I value what I'm discussing more than the fact I'm discussing it. Also, my name is already better known as used by a much more famous person, Christopher Jackson, so I'm not sure I want to even put my name on it at first, unless I'm identified as "C. Jackson" to avoid potential confusion. It'll be a very high-concept show about political realities, moral truths, and psychological hurdles we face as a society trying to build and secure progress during and after the age of Trump. So the cover art ideally would be as accessible to all political ideologies as possible, with the exception of Trump supporters. Broadly, I will be speaking to an audience that consists of potentially everyone except the hard right. Individual policies and daily Trump offenses will not be much of a concern, as my show will be about how we progress as a society not by trying to placate both sides of any given battle, but to use our binding moral character to identify what is really important in our lives. Suburban moms will enjoy this show, as I will surely verbalize many thoughts they agree with but haven't heard liberals express before. Non-trumpy white men will likely also enjoy my viewpoints on the unhelpfulness of cancel culture and my ability to navigate politically sensitive topics without antagonizing groups that likely otherwise would strongly disagree with my policy preferences. I want this show to serve to soften the way "liberals" are perceived in the minds of moderates/conservatives, so the artwork should ideally convey in some way that I understand where all sides are coming from since I was raised a white religious conservative, but decided over time that secular liberal ideology best represented the better world I wanted to create. So the theme is more "insightful Democratic/blue rationale people haven't heard before" and less "one millionth proud liberal/conservative who thinks everyone else is wrong".
I am certainly not a centrist, and I'm not an independent. I am basically a less photogenic Joe Biden--and instead of strategically concealing my intentions so as to make myself more palatable to my audience as an "average Joe", it will be very apparent from the beginning that I am far from the typical liberal. I would like the cover art to convey the sense that it's okay for average people to trust me despite an obvious level of intellect they may rightly be suspicious of otherwise. I have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture (even things I'm not personally interested in), and I am known for being very persuasive when afforded the time to fully explain my viewpoints. There is a particular movie quote that I've felt perfectly captures my personality, my mind, and the way I talk: "I’m here to tell you a story—at first it’ll sound ridiculous, but the longer I talk the more rational it will appear." -Private Cage, trying to convey to a stubborn general that he can see the future (Edge of Tomorrow) That concept, in a nutshell, is what my podcast is about.

Loved design but also the contact during the competition and how the design looked on actual tags. It gave me a good visual experience of it on my product range.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
