Selling software to the embedded systems market
What's your vision?
We have rented a stand at a trade show to sell an embedded operating system to companies that make a product that contains a computer inside of it. Typical examples are telephones, TV sets, routers, ADSL modems, printers, appliances, digital video recorders and thousands more, but also industrial equipment. We need an A0 (84x111 cm) poster to hang on the wall of our stand to describe our system. There will be about 20,000 attendees of all ages from 60 countries. Most are engineers or engineering managers with lots of technical knowledge. They are interested in specific information and cannot be fooled by fluff, but we want to be noticed. The software itself is described at www.minix3.org The attached file is our first attempt but can no doubt be improved. The number and size of the photos is open and other ideas are possible. There will also be an A4 (21x30 cm) flyer made from the poster.
The poster will need some example embedded systems. How many, how big, and where is your call. Remember that the final version must be 84 x 111 cm at 300 dpi, so if you want a piece of art to be 20 cm, it needs to be 2400 pixels wide. There are many sources of public-domain clipart on the web, and we have purchased the rights to some art so if you can explain what you need, maybe we can help you find it although large sizes are sometimes tricky . Most of the art in the example poster is in the zip file.

And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
