Ask Leo! answers consumer questions about PCs, the internet and technology, primarily via a website of published answers, a twice weekly newsletter, occasionally direct email, and now books.
What's your vision?
Last Year I self-published "Maintaining XP - A Practical Guide" (http://www.maintainingxp.com/) - self meaning from top to bottom, cover to content. I'm embarking on a sucessor "Maintaining Windows 7". This will be a 5 volume series initially published on Kindle, but may cross over to other media - including Print - should demand warrant. I need a book cover design. The basic elements must include the title, the author, "An Ask Leo! ebook" - (download the table of contents PDF from the site above for an illustration of those components in use - pay no attention to the actual design). I'm really open on design ideas so I don't really have any preconceptions. I do have a few "feelings", though: My customer is the average consumer, so the design should be "friendly" as opposed to reference-book-like. At the other end of the spectrum I don't want to go cartoonish either. http://ps0.us/ama/1937018024/ is another book of mine with an actual designed cover that worked well. I'm not looking to maintain any kind of consistency with that particular example. I'll want a PSD that corresponds (roughly) to the CreateSpace.com design requirements for an 8x10 color cover. While the focus of this design is the front cover, a background color or design that naturally wraps around a spine and back cover will definitely help.
I communicate best via email.
