WANTED: Stylish baby play mat that looks more like a modern, designer rug than a carnival tent

Most baby play mats are designed in an array of bright colors which fit best in a nursery or playroom. Three examples of traditional, wildly colorful baby play mats are attached.

We would like to produce a play mat that looks more like a designer rug, which could fit in any room of the house, or in a smaller apartment without the luxury of many rooms.

Similar to the traditional play mats, we would like a modular design with interlocking squares and border pieces. The interlocking square pieces should measure approximately 12 x 12 inches. The design of each piece should be identical, such that they can be configured in different sizes and maintain a uniform look. Our initial product would be a play mat measuring approximately 4 x 6 feet in size, consisting of 24 interlocking squares with 20 border pieces. Customers would be able to order additional squares to make custom sized play mats.

We would like the design to be made in neutral colors, most likely grays or off whites. Attached are two files with a variety of images that fit the general style that we're looking for, some more whimsical than others. We're happy to make the play mat fun, so long as the design doesn't scream nursery room.
