I am looking for a zen style logo. Hopefully some sacred geometry replacing the standard circle would be nice. I have a lot of examples uploaded.
I am looking of a design that will encompass who I am and what I believe in. I love what I do, and I do the best that I can. When I am finished working at a customers house I feel like the energy that I spent there has helped improve the world even if it is in the smallest of ways.
A little bit about me,
There is a saying, "dirty hands, clean money" I live and work in a green industry and I find myself traveling from time to time as a contract climber and general tree care specialist. Sometimes it is to remove hazardous trees off of someones property after a storm. I climb, prune and care for trees. I love climbing trees. While it It doesn't happen often, I am most passionate about planting trees. Especially after removing several large trees that people tend to be afraid of. Replacing them with something smaller and edible just feels so good for me.
My personal vision is to see edible landscaping kick off throughout the country. I am in the process of creating neighborhoods that are like a "gardens of eden". However, I am a one man show at the moment and it is just one customer at a time.... There also aren't a lot of people that want this in their back yard or front yard. I need to reach more people. Website, logo, advertising, etc.
I want to see community and this is how I hope to create the most change in the world. What is exciting to me about this industry is the by-product. In most cases, trees can be 100% recycled. There are not a lot of other companies that utilize these by-products & they generally end up in the land fill. However, I do my very best to make sure that they get recycled back into the earth. I enjoy creating gardens for people. I feel like it is a way to give back.
Trees can be recycled and turned into countless things. If a tree falls down in the woods and if it is left alone it will decompose and turn back into the earth. Having a wood chipper greatly speeds up this process. The chips can be used as mulch, fuel and food. The wood can be used as lumber, furniture, and countless other things. Depending on the variety of wood and under the right conditions one can create food or medicine by inoculating the logs or wood chips with various mushroom spores (oyster ((food)), shiitake ((food and medicine)) and reishi ((medicine when brewed into a tea)) just to name a few).
For most companies, the money usually comes from removals and pruning. This is the meat and potatoes of most tree companies, and this is usually all they focus on. I make money doing this too. Some removals are very challenging.
However, most tree care companies don’t educate their customers about trees and they tend to focus on and sell removals without even considering replanting.
There is so much more to tree care than removals. That is why tree removal is covered in only 1 chapter in a 16 chapter manual in the ISA Certification handbook. Trees are actually proven to reduce stress, improve health, improve water quality, improve air quality, promote community, and lower crime rates.
I like the idea of a large canopy and a large root system. I am looking for a lot of detail in the root system, and in the canopy. I don't want it to look like
I need a logo that says something different. Sophisticated, elegant, flexible, and strong
There is a huge micro-system under the ground. Please make not of this with the drawings. A healthy tree starts with the soil and roots. Most people think about earthworms when then think about healthy soil. The fact is there can be millions of microscopic life forms in a single handful of soil.
*Soil is sand, silt, clay, air, water, minerals and organic matter crawling with earthworms, moles, grubs, centipedes, millipedes, snails, slugs, beetles, ants, fungi, insect larvae, bacteria, mushrooms and many other organisms.
*Please have some of this detailed in the drawing.
I added some pictures and my business cards. They have a front and a back, but I couldn't upload the back because of personal info on it. The back of my card was of two hands holding a small "baby seedling." I couldn't find the original image, so I google searched and found these pictures. They are more detailed.
*If you wanted to add to the the tree in hand concept (roots, earth, worms, mushrooms/fungi/mycorrhiza in between some of the fingers, but not scary looking.
(Artists please google Mycorrhiza & Google "tree of 40" )
*Mushrooms are the fruiting body of fungi and are above ground, not under. It is not accurate to draw any mushrooms in the root system. They need to be above ground.
*Tree roots do not grow down deep as most people think. They grow out wide... (60ft tree, 40 feet wide will likely have, 3 feet deep roots, but 40 feet wide. Big thick roots closer to the trunk, smaller feeler roots out by the drip line) Please make note of this in your designs.
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." - Chinese proverb
