Ephox (pronounced “ee-fox”) is a fast-growing and successful software company.
We develop and market software for business users at large organizations to easily create and publish web content.
It is important that our software be perceived as user friendly and easy to learn. An important positioning is that we are the “most like Microsoft Word.”
Another key advantage is our “enterprise” credentials – we offer better support, have more features, comply with more standards, integrate with more third party systems and have a higher level of quality.
Our target customers are the web site development teams of large companies and government organizations. Also important are the service providers of these large companies - e.g. other software companies, web development firms and system integrators.
Within these companies we have multiple decision makers:
Business professionals who will actually use our product to update web site content. They are concerned that our product is powerful and easy to use
Technical professionals who will need to integrated and support our product. They are concerned that our product is high quality, meets web standards, is well supported and can be easily integrated.
Managers who need to justify purchasing our software. They are responsible for the success of the web site who are concerned they are making the right decision to invest money with us.
We have an existing "four ball" concept which we are not sure whether we want to keep... or not. Many designers like to incorporate foxes or furry parts into their designs. This is not a direction we are particularly keen on.
Keen to see examples that take the "balls" into the modern era... or totally new concepts. We'd most prefer an icon that speaks to our core business, which is software for online content creation and publishing. Therefore, one might think of cursors or pens as creative inspiration.
We'd also like an icon that is modifiable for various product lines, either with color or some other element.
You can see our existing logo attached herein and at our web site http://www.ephox.com
Aside from this, our target market is enterprise... so we need clean, professional and business-oriented.
Not meaning to be cliched but we like "Web 2.0" style logos and it would be good for us to be compared with and associated favorably with Web 2.0 businesses.
