Philo makes television interactive by letting viewers use their mobile devices to check-in to shows, comment on shows, receive exclusive/targeted offers, and share their experiences with friends on Facebook and Twitter. Our web and iPhone apps are in private beta and will launch to the public soon. We'd love the association with making television interactive and also the association with conversations around programs / sharing the television experience in real time w friends and other viewers around the world.
A little background on the name.... Philo Farnsworth invented the (electronic) television in 1927 (here's a link to his bio on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philo_Farnsworth). We've been thinking of a preview tagline something along the lines of "In 1927 Philo Farnsworth invented the television. In 2010, Philo (re)invents television. Stay tuned." and possibly using the tag "Philo. (Re)inventing television." as our tagline.
A little more about the personality of the company.... to date, the television is something that played shows for you, but you did not interact with it. We like to think that Philo anthropomorphizes the television and gives it character. And you can interact with a character. In this case, the character is Philo.
Our target market is avid television watchers. Specifically, those that like to watch a lot of tv, are fanatical about their shows, and who like to discuss what they watch with their friends - especially via social media.
Design a logo (and identity) that will establish this new application/game and differentiate it from it's competitors. We'll need a logo for our web and iPhone apps (that will also be used for forthcoming versions for Android, Blackberry, etc.) Once we have established the logo/identity, we will work on other items including reward badges/etc. I am attaching some screenshots of our applications so you can get a feel for how the app works. (Some of the screenshots may include/use a stockphoto placeholder for the logo.)
One angle we had thought about for a logo involved combining a television and a smiling face. BUT we are not married to that idea. Just a thought. we'd like a lot of options.
