RDG Bar Annie
Cafe Annie is a family-owned restaurant operating in Houston, Texas since 1980. Chef/Partner Robert Del Grande is considered one of the founders of Southwestern Cuisine. He has been the recipient of numerous awards, including James Beard Best Chef. Cafe Annie was included in the book "1000 Places to See Before You Die", and has been featured in every culinary and lifestyle magazine in the U.S.
The new restaurant will bear his initials, RDG, with a subhead Bar Annie, to reference the highly successful bar at Cafe Annie.
The challenge here is to design and fit a logo centered onto the face of a balcony 5 feet high and 36 feet wide, with "RDG" stacked on top of "Bar Annie" . We are leaning toward "RDG" in upper case, with "Bar Annie" upper and lower. The current signage for Bar Annie is script, but we are afraid that it might be too difficult to read in the limited vertical space.
However, we are open to alternative treatments. For more information, or the history of our restuarants, go to http://www.schiller-delgrande.com or http://www.cafe-annie.com
The current Cafe Annie is a fine dining restaurant, a landmark in Houston, supported by a wide range of sophisticated, urbane Houstonians and people from out of town looking for great food, an award winning wine list in a lively atmosphere. Bar Annie, which is really just the bar in the restaurant, has become a place to see and be seen, always packed with young beautiful people.
Unfortuntely, the building it occupies is being torn down as part of a huge new development, so we are moving into a new building 2 blocks down the street, and using this opportunity to update the look and name.
RDG will be the evolution of Cafe Annie. A whole new restaurant on two levels, with the same focus on food, wine and service, but with a more casual approach to target a wider audience.
Layout of a sign.
The words: "RDG" and "Bar Annie"
Stacked RDG on top.
Type face only, no logo mark.
Readable using 24" maximum reverse-channel metal letters.
Letters will be installed on the face of a balcony 5' High x 36' Wide.
The face of the balcony is white stucco.
