Rathmann Auto Works, Inc.
A small automotive business mostly repairing, maintaining, and restoring Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, and Porsche brand vehicles. We also work on the higher end European "daily driver" types of vehicles such as Mercedes and BMW. We are located in the Southern California area in the USA, an area that has a significant car culture that is part of most residents daily lives. The majority owner and founder of the business has been a Master Mechanic for 20 years and has worked on exotic and classic cars for 8 years.
We are targeting European car collectors, exotic car enthusiasts, European racing fans (ie people who like Formula 1 more than NASCAR), and owners of modern European vehicles such as Mercedes and BMW that are generally available in the USA. Many of our customers, especially the collectors, like to go to various car shows that show off other collector vehicles. Example shows: Concourso Italiano in Monterey, California, Dana Point Concours d'Elegance, Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance, and La Jolla Concours d'Elegance.
The logo will ideally incorporate a graphical component and a textual component. The graphical component must be memorable and recognizable by itself without added letters or words. The textual component could be "Rathmann", "R A W", or "Rathmann Auto Works" as fits with the graphical component. There may be uses where we opt to use only the graphical component by itelf, but general usage would be with the textual component. It's possible that a mostly textual logo (eg the "VW" logo) could work for us, but we haven't seen anything yet that looks right for us.
The graphics and font(s) used should touch upon European styles, perhaps somehow combining Italian and German design influences. Something calling to classic European automobile logo designs but with a definite modern look.
The logo itself should look like something that could be on an automobile or automobile related components.
We want something new, so don't just outright copy existing logos from Ferrari, Porsche, BMW etc. Explore different shapes, different geometries, but keep those Euro car logos in mind.
