How Mary Coughlin started their logo design journey
Caring Essentials Collaborative (CEC)
I am a nurse and educator with a passion for caring. In my vast experience I know that it's the small, sometimes intangible acts of kindness that make such a big difference in a hospital experience and was fortunate to pilot an education intervention (results attached) that measured the effect of clear, discrete caring actions on clinical and economic outcomes and the results confirmed what the science of integrative medicine purport, that human caring makes a BIG difference. CEC is a not for profit committed to raising awareness of the impact of key performance indicators for human caring on clinical, psychosocial, emotional, and economic outcomes of hospitalized patients worldwide. Grounded in the fields of psychoneuroimmunology, integrative medicine and nursing science, CEC is dedicated to improving the patient care experience of vulnerable populations through the adoption and implementation of evidence based caring interactions. The Collaborative brings to light the vitality of a shared care interface, cultivating new approaches to care delivery that benefit both the caregiver and the care recipient. Aligned with the Institute of Medicine, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Joint Commission International, CEC will position itself as the fourth pillar in the movement to improve the safety and quality of healthcare globally.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are targeting nurses, doctors, therapists, social workers as well as key stakeholders and leaders for healthcare improvement. This is a well established market very similar to the target audience of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (http://www.ihi.org).
The logo should be clean and streamlined but visually compelling. It should convey complexity simply with an understanding of a shared or common draw across all humans. Color, I defer to the designer for direction. Maybe represent a blend of the human and the science or mind body spirit (but not too alternative that it would turn off less spiritual folks). I think you check out the attachments it may give you some inspiration.
