This will be the starting point, once the logo is achieved I would expect to be offering more work in stationary, signage and marketing materials in the future.I need a logo that will be a strong starting point for my brand. As a photographer I work for national and international media companies including Getty Images, Agence France-Presse, Sydney Morning Herald, GSP etc, and I also am moving more into the government sector and industrial/corporate market.
I cover a small number of weddings currently, but am planning an expansion of that area with a number of other photographers over the next 12 months, and this is an important part of my brand. This will be when my 'name' becomes my 'brand' when staff will have business cards etc representing the business. Wedding Photography is a luxury item and at the top end of the market clients expect packaging and branding to be at a very high level.
My clients (editorial, corporate and wedding) are all upmarket and I want to reflect that, so think Mercedes or BMW not Daewoo and Huyandi, Hugo Boss and Dolce & Gabanna, not K-Mart and Walmart.
The logo will be used on material still to be designed (after the comp) on a large street sign, but also on small items such as letterhead, business cards, DVD, albums, and promotional items so it needs to be recognisable on 'a golf ball.'
I have no colour scheme or set ideas in place so it's a bit of a blank canvas, but I don't want anything to do with cameras, film, shutters, snap boards, nor anything to do with weddings.
My card will be going under the noses of people in charge of budgets in the billions so it needs to leave a good impression first-up. Last thing to ponder might be to remember that at the end of the day I'm a photographer, not a lawyer or accountant, so to avoid going too corporate.
I promise to offer plenty of feedback!
