logo re-design

Looking for a re-design of the current logo used on akgmag.com to better reflect the nature of the website and its audience. akgmag.com is for all kinds of writers and authors, for anyone new to writing for the internet, students, or anyone interested in marketing themselves online.

Target audience are writers of every style and level, students new to writing or online writing, anyone interested in marketing themselves online

- use current colors, or colors that match site
- format in jpg, gif, png, .ico, apple-touch-icon.png, psd for print
- same formats with transparent background (when possible)

- I'd like one version of the logo (jpg and png only ok) to use for the blog only. OK to use additional color for this one

The main requirement is for the logo to not look as technical as it currently does and to be better suited for a site focused on writers and writing of all different styles. I know that pens and writing instruments come to mind, when thinking about a logo for this type of niche, but I hope there will also be other ideas :)
