Sakonnet Farm (http://sakonnetfarm.com/)
We are family driven professionals that are looking to get back to the basics. We have four young children and feel owning your own business can be very rewarding. We both enjoy animals, interacting with the public, and really enjoy this very small New England town we settled in 2002.
There is a huge movement towards buying fresh wholesome products without preservatives, antibiotics, and other chemicals. We'll incorporate Agritourism into our business and look to provide year round food products in this area. We are located about 10 miles from a supermarket in a somewhat peninsula type geography. The area is inhabited by very few year round, but many visit the area for a "ride to the country". Our area also swells with many “summer residents" that I’m confident will buy fresh wholesome products while visiting. We feel there's a void that needs to be filled and what better place to do it in a very quaint former gas station and former Fire Station. When we travel to new places we encounter these really neat places that we'll never forget which we’re hoping to create a similar experience for tourists in this area. We also plan on targeting Moms and kids with a mini petting zoo along with antique gas pumps, gumball machines, coca cola machines, and petromobilia (retro gas station stuff).
Not too serious, comical, or generic. We really want to capitalize on the profile of the building which will be the icon of the business and definitely want some retro flair to the logo. Lastly we’re receptive to ideas so let your imagination run wild. We were playing with logo ideas which can be seen at the following link: http://sogkonniteliving.blogspot.co…-news.html. At this point Chickens and the Retro Roadside Market will be the focal points of the business but we plan on harvesting home grown mushrooms, fruits, vegetables, herbs, berries, seasonal items, etc......
