If you aren't familiar with Linux: it's an operating system (like Microsoft Windows) that is created by volunteers from all over the world. They give away their work so other people can improve it (and those improvements are required to be released for free so other people can make even more improvements).
After those volunteers spend their time creating the software, in a lot of cases, they spend their own money on web hosting, computer hardware, etc. Which is where penguindisc comes in:
The site will provide professional-quality Linux CDs/DVDs (for around $10) with the profits going to open source projects. Making it easy for people to switch to Linux and help support the Linux community.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Windows power-users and IT geeks... 20-35 year olds, mostly male.
I'm looking for a clean, professional looking logo that will look good on the website and in print.
I would love to see a penguin or an abstract of a penguin, but that's just an idea. Linux is often seen as amateurish, so please:
* No Cartoons, including the Linux mascot (which is a cartoon penguin).
* No stock images or clip art
The website, product packaging, etc will be designed around the logo. So feel free to experiment with colors.
