Jame Healy needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 108 designs submitted by 31 freelance designers.
The company distributes and sells enterprise software, specifically within the Canadian market (though the logo/identity concept doesn't need to have any Canadian elements).
Our client is typically the senior executives from these mid-size software manufacturers.
The identity needs to be professional, yet maybe a little more contemporary without being too "trendy".
The name comes from the term/concept of "coalescence" ... the merger of two of more things for a common purpose.
The brand should communicate stability, success and a mixture of conservative and contemporary.

They are talking to us because they would like to sell their product (through us) into the Canadian marketplace, which requires specific and unique approach.
We would like a logo that is simple to reproduce (not to "busy") and can work in black/white (for faxing, etc.) as well as greyscale and the logo's primary colours.
It should be consistent with a theme of "merging together" (like the name suggests).
We are interested in your use of colour (recommendations), but would prefer no more than two spot colours. However, any thoughts on a "palette" of complimentary colours would be helpful.
Preferably the entire logo (including wordmark) has a fairly square aspect ratio so that it can easily be used in Twitter-like profile photos/logos.
We would like to receive images in PNG format (unless you recommend something else).
