We’re a communications service provider and our goal is to provide a top notch usability for traditional communication tools such as e-mail, phone, voicemail, fax, conferencing and blending these tools with social networking set of tools, such as news feed, profiles, and later photo, video, instant messaging, and others.
The logo we’re looking for will be used in a high visibility enterprise product used by 40,000 small US/Canadian businesses. The product name is "CommuniKate" with the nickname "Kate". The female persona (Kate) is used for product support and for general branding. We’re looking for a new and simple logo that will reflect the ideas of communication, social networking, and the female persona “Kate” who is facilitating the communication much like an executive assistant would. Think of the possibilities!
The end users are small business owners. These are professionals and we want to provide them with an elegant and clean product and logo that speaks "this is a professional business communication tool, this is not a toy". The demographic is a very wide range of adult small business owners, men and women from early twenties to middle age. No teenagers and no kids.
We’re looking for a new and simple logo that will reflect the ideas of communication, social networking, and the female persona “Kate” who is facilitating the communication much like an executive assistant would.
Our existing user base simply refers to the product as “Kate” and we've used the female persona for general branding and for product support, but we haven't yet explored using the female persona for the symbol it the logo. Feel free to get creative in that direction.
Put most of your effort on the design of the symbol, not the typeface. For consistency reasons the typeface we already use is "Bryant RegularAlt"
While you should feel free to play on the letter “K”, don't limit your creativity to it.
The recommended color palette is white, gray, and green.
The logo should be simple enough to be legible when rendered in monotone.
The logo has to reproduce well on coffee mugs, pens, T-Shirts, and other marketing items.
Look and Feel Guidance
1. The logo design must communicate that the product is a professional communication tool. The look should be minimalistic, clean, polished, and elegant. Think modern elegant business tool. Target high readability and intuitive feel.
2. Designs to avoid: Avoid grungy or heavy details designs. Avoid designs that are more appropriate for weddings or art gallery than a business.
