Influential political blog needs new logo

We are the UK's top liberal / left-wing blog. Our audience is intelligent, educated and highly-engaged with political issues of the day. Our readers are often active in political parties and single-issue campaigns in areas such as environment, equality, poverty alleviation etc. Coverage focuses on the UK but does include international issues. http://www.leftfootforward.org/
Logo types to explore
Our current logo (uploaded to the brief) includes foot prints to signify the "Left Foot [being] Forward" but we are open to any design that plays on our name and values (left-wing) in a creative way. Some element (pictorial mark / abstract mark / lettering) must be extractable from the logo to form a square Twitter avatar. We currently use a foot but we are open to other ideas. Our current logo is also "flat" but we would be open to effects such as graduated colouring and drop shadows, provided the design is bold and distinctive. UPDATE: "Left" and "Foot" need to be spaced slightly or distinguished in some other way (e.g. different weightings) so it doesn't look like "LeftFoot". Please no more Hermes stuff with wings on feet.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at €269.
Full copyright with production-ready files for digital and/or print.
