brett.kettle got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Help me capture the idea of a revolutionary robotic underwater glider

People-powered big data from shallow seas.
Vertigo3 is a product - a small, fast and agile 'airplane' that autopilots itself as it glides over reefs, instantly analyzing high definition video of the seabed using artificial intelligence and machine learning, and producing live maps and reports of what it sees. It is 10 times faster than anything that's been done before, fully automated, and captures half-a-million images per day. This 'glider' will be used by school groups, traditional owners, citizen-scientists and by researchers, to devise and answer the questions that bother them. We will build an open-source community who collect massive amounts of environmental information and process it 'live', drawing on each others' work to build a large library of things that the glider can recognise, count, and map. I want a logo that will inspire people across the world, who recognise the reality that saving our oceans requires vast amounts of data - and come to recognise that enabling communities to collect and analyse good quality data is the only way to truly scale up marine science.
Other color requirements
Other than against block-colour backgrounds, the logo will be superimposed over coral reef video imagery, which tends to blues and greens.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their logo design.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
brett.kettle collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
PJ came up with a left-field take on the design brief, which managed to hit the key points in a way that I hadn't imagined, and met with strong approval from a majority of my polled colleagues. It was a pleasure to work with PJ.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
