Logo types to explore

I'm splitting from my old company and my senior partner is taking the 99 designs LOGO that I had worked with designers on last year! Now I can't take it with me. I NEED an even BETTER logo now since my partner took the kick-ass one that we had.
We are located in Roseville, CA. It's in the FOOTHILLS of the Sierra Mountains. Lots of rivers, oak trees, mountains, etc...around our office. Also of interest would be something that reflects our unique investment philosophy. We believe in something called "Modern Portfolio Theory" and "Efficient Markets." Both of those can be wikipedia'd. Our philosophy is based on Nobel Prize winning academic research done at major universities and not research of wall street firms. Maybe an "academic" feel to the logo?
Be as creative as you want!! Some thoughts:. I think designs can be divided into two distinct groupings. Those that focus on our location (foothills/mountains, bridge, oak trees, etc..)and those that focus on what we do, the services we provide, and our investment philosophy of GLOBAL DIVERSIFICATION. I've thought at times that an earth/globe image divided up like a pie chart could have appeal?? the only image I've attached is the image that won the last time I did this with 99 designs. Please be as creative and bold as you want. BTW, I had a logo a long time ago that had some bold colors. the PMS of my old logo was 390C and 7469C and I like green colors like in restoration hardware catalog/store. but if you show me great designs in whatever color you want. If I like it I can always ask you to change the colors.
Lastly, our company slogan is "creating wealth and well-being." I don't know if that "fits" with the logos I'm asking for but if you think it does, go for it.
