'making quilts for kids one hug at a time'
** Our goal/purpose/mission **
Our goal is to distribute hand-made quilts to cancer stricken, seriously ill and/or traumatized children ages 0-18 years old across Australia. We are registered with the Australian Taxation Office as a Tax Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) Organisation that is 100% volunteer-based. We currently supply quilts made with love and devotion to Children's Hospital as well as Ronald McDonald Houses around Australia.
When people see and hear about these quilts, their faces light up like a little kid on Christmas morning. It is truly heart-warming the overwhelming response we continue to receive.
** What inspired me to begin BlanketLovez?**
There have been several sources of inspiration for me in starting BlanketLovez. While giving birth to my twins (Ethan and Emily), both Ethan and I almost didn't survive the delivery. The wonderful NICU nurses were truly inspiring to watch as they lovingly took care of all the sick babies each day. It was a life-changing experience that made me want to give back in some small way. But since I am not a nurse or doctor, I turned to quilting instead. I saw how much my own children loved it each time I made them their own special blankets, and thought that doing it for other children as well could be a small way to help others.
** Target Audience **
Potential donors, sick children and their families, potential facilities to be supplied with blankets, media/press, potential quilters considering helping as well. Hopefully our logo will motivate others to join with us in making quilts by donating either their time and skills or funds.
** Founder's Background **
I first started sewing when I was eight years old and absolutely love making quilts - they are so happy and colorful and safe feeling whenever I snuggle up underneath one - it's like being given a great big loving hug from mom each time I wrap a quilt around me - my four children feel the exact same way. Over the years I have made hundreds and hundreds of quilts for sick children all over the world and feel so blessed being able to start a formal charity around one of my true passions in life.
** Ideal Logo **
Ideally our logo will feel warm and friendly while also being classy and professional (not too amateurish feeling as that might scare away larger donors).
** Any questions?**
Thank you for helping me with our BlanketLovez logo design contest! If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask :)
