GigNinja - no website just yet, the web design will be our next contest
We are GigNinja! Our goal is to connect people in search of quick gigs with those in need of having work done right away. In some respects, we're similar to Craigslist's "Gigs" section, but without the worry or hassle of having no one respond to your post or--even worse--having someone flake out on your at the last minute. (Don't you just hate it when that happens?)
We are in the process of building a business and website that addresses the needs of the time-sensitive short-term labor market. The types of jobs that we will be posted on GigNinja are:
Helping someone change a tire
Local delivery and courier service
Mowing a lawn
Painting a fence
The one thing that all of these jobs have in common is that they require no specialized skills; the types of gigs posted on GigNinja are things that anyone could do. But what sets us apart is the fact that we maintain a list of diligent workers who are interested in doing this kind of work at a moment's notice.
We believe that we will have two types of users. Our GigNinjas (the workers) will probably be in their twenties or thirties and live in urban environments. And my guess is that many of them will really be in to bicycles. I'm not sure why I'm assuming that, but it's a hunch.
Our other audience, the people who will be using our service, might also be from the same demographic. But it's another one of my hunches that they will be slightly older (mid-thirties?), possibly with young families, and maybe own a small business?
Before submitting a design, feel free to check out the main comment wall. I've highlighted the designs that are headed in the right direction; that might be just as useful as the information listed below.
So this is what we'd like:
A logo that incorporates a mascot, with the mascot being designed to reflect the idea of "quick and simple". The first thing that comes to mind is a stick-figure ninja. Of course, please don't limit yourself to that idea, it's just the first thing that popped into my head.
At first, if you have just a rough sketch in your mind, then please feel free to submit that right away--no need to spend a lot of time refining an idea until you know that you're headed in the right direction. I'm going to be checking the submissions very frequently and I'll be sure to offer gobs of feedback.
Some adjectives that we are fond of:
Quick and easy
Happy and fun
Quirky
We think that stick figures reflect the simplicity and ease that will be fundamental to our business, but it might difficult to making a stick figure very striking.
An idea from anther business that very much reflects what we would like to represent can be found in any instruction manual for putting together IKEA furniture. I am linking a few images below:

And I have a really strong attachment to squirrels.
***EDIT: After thinking about this a little more, maybe a squirrel isn't the best direction for a ninja. But if you think you have a squirrel-focused design that would really work, then by all means. It's just that after seeing a few of the squirrels already posted, I'm thinking that a human-ninja might be the way to go.
Hope you all have fun with this one. I'm looking forward to all of the submissions.
