Pet Album
This startup social networking site is wholly owned by me, as the Founder/Chief Creative Officer (plus marketer, content strategist, lawyer, janitor, you get the idea...). I've had lots of pets and love interacting with 'pet people'.
I live in Los Angeles, and have created content and marketing campaigns for electronics, entertainment, automotive, banking, and leisure clients over the years. I have some design sense but I am not a designer.
This is both a passion project and strategic initiative, and will assuredly get at least some exposure to consumers of pet industry products/services. I enjoy the creative process and have worked with many creative types over the years.
Mainstream pet owners (mostly dog and cat, but also bird, reptile, fish, horse, etc.). Demographic: 18-64, skewing female. Mostly down-to-earth, middle-America, caring types, who respond to positive messaging about animal welfare in general and pets in particular (again, mostly dogs and cats).
BASIC LOGO REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal logo will be simple, clean, positive, probably with primary colors. It will be used in a variety of sizes, and it must be easily "read" as a small thumbnail (as on Facebook). It should work well as a standalone icon or as a logo lockup with the text "Pet Album." (I'm open to incorporating "Pet Album" as the logo itself if you can creatively present that with some kind of imagery that gets the message across, but shrinking it might be tough.) A swoosh, shape or line in the background is fine, too, but not required.
MESSAGE TO CONVEY:
It's a safe, fun, supportive network of pets and pet people. Share, show off, and just enjoy the pet community. An image that somehow conveys two or more people exchanging pictures/notes about animals is a good start.
TONE:
Down to Earth, inclusive, warm; not necessarily hip. As much hacky sack and wind chimes as latte and smart phone. Simple, fun, and upbeat. A little "cute" is ok; just don't overdo it. Hand-drawn, cartoon art would be fine.
EXAMPLE:
See http://www.PetAlbum.com. The current logo is pretty good, but I don't have full rights to it. It's also aimed just at dogs, which is too exclusive. But it captures the essence of a proud human owner, and features the pet over the owner. It also scales well, up and down.
DELIVERABLE:
Layered RGB .psd file, with logo and text treatment. 100% original art only; please no clip art or photos.
Thanks!
