Temple Emanu-El (templesanjose.org)
Temple Emanu-El is a reform Jewish Synagogue in San Jose, California. We bring together a vibrant, diverse community to make our Jewish heritage relevant to our lives in the 21st Century through innovative Shabbat Service worship, meaningful and fun Holiday celebrations and Life Cycle events, enriching Education opportunities for all ages, and great Community Programs through our Auxiliaries and Committees.
We are preparing to celebrate 150 years in the year 2011. More than 149 years of tradition, warmth and caring distinguish Temple Emanu-El, where our founders made history by establishing Santa Clara Valley's first Jewish congregation in 1861. Today, we are proud to be one of the oldest Reform congregations on the west coast.
Our congregation value tradition, innovation, and diversity. Community and family are extremely important. Our congregational family consists of pre-school, religious school, young families all the way through veterans of life.
Temple Emanu-El's members include individuals, couples and families from diverse backgrounds. Some members come from more traditional Jewish backgrounds - others are interfaith couples, individuals looking to Judaism for answers, or those rediscovering their religion. We embrace diversity of all forms and those who choose to make our Synagogue a part of their lives will find themselves welcome into our Congregational family.
Temple Emanu-El (http://www.templesanjose.org) invites you to submit a logo design derived from our existing logo to be used for its external communications (possibly letterhead, monthly newsletter, website, etc) for the year leading up to, during, and beyond its 150th Anniversary.
We are looking for a revived look to communicate our values of innovation, tradition, welcoming and warmth.
Some of our current branding and style can be seen on our website, http://www.templesanjose.org and in our newsletter, Connections, which can be downloaded via the ‘Quick Links’ in the upper left hand side of the website. In newsletter and email communications we will be using the color teal (Pantone 3025) as background.
Our tagline, Celebrating 150 Years of Tradition and Innovation in 2011! to accompany logo in some treatments. In 2012 "Over" will replace "Celebrating" and we will drop "in 2011".
We'd like a logo derived from our current logo (attached) that reflects our approach and values. Our congregants have a choice of many congregations -- we'd like a logo that is distinctive and memorable and helps set us apart.
WANTS: 2-3 colors max (no border or outline), appeal to all ages, winner will be asked to submit several sizes for possible use on website, newsletter, business card, and large banners.
DON'T WANTS: frivolous, no pastels, color black okay, but not for background
