Community & Non-Profit
The Canadian Hazards Emergency Response & Preparedness (CHERP) initiative is a university research project exploring household emergency preparedness at the University of British Columbia (https://ubc.ca/). We are developing a mobile app to assist residents at risk from natural hazards to develop emergency plans customized to the unique needs of household members, including those with disabilities, young children, and older members. Local hazards will include earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfire, and flooding (among others). We are targeting Canadian residents interested in quickly developing emergency preparedness and response plans and sharing these plans with their families. Our logo will be used to represent the overall research initiative as well as the mobile app and therefore must work at small and large sizes, in color and black & white.
We don't currently have strong opinions around color palette, and will use the logo as a guide for actual app design. As a university research project, we would like to have something approachable, but not childish. We've considered a bird as part of the logo (since CHERP sounds like 'chirp'), but we're wide open to fresh ideas. We've included a screenshot from the development version of the site to give some ideas of where the logo will be used in context. The logo will go where the cube is currently located, but please don't consider the cube in any way a part of the brief, it is just a placeholder until your fantastic design can fill that space!
