Once oliva added her designs for the project I was able to get really excited about my potential logo. I ended up upgrading so I could have a few variations. Appreciate her creative initiative and the end result.
How Jama started their logo design journey
I create works of art out of cake. Yeah, just like those guys on television. And I want to be on Food Network someday, doing the same! The difference for me is that I'm not a classically trained pastry chef. Mostly self-taught with a few encounters with the experts. Lots of trial and error (sometimes errors are easier to swallow when they are edible, lol!). Just like I do with my hairdressers, I love to jump from one talented person to the other... picking up skills and inspiration out of cook books, art, daily life, stretching out in down dog and at the bottom of my cup of Starbucks or pint of Blue Moon.
This isn't your grandmother's wedding cake site! I don't even know how to make a rose out of buttercream and I'm not baking that Duncan Hines box mix! The teachers at the Wilton Cake Design school would slap my hands and kick me out. I love the use of color and unique designs. Well done tattoos rock, but my husband won't go for the cake tattoo! I wear black and white almost every day paint my toe nails red. I love flowers. I get bored with projects easily, so I won't do the same thing twice.
I am passionate about following dreams & taking advantage of your skills. I want to teach people the tools to use to do what I do. I want to foster relationships and build a community of cake artists. I want to have fun doing what I love and make money doing it, lots of it!
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Folks in their 20's - 60's, men and women, who are artsy, or at least want to be, and love to bake and do their own thing.
I am targeting anyone who watches designer cake challenges, likes to eat cake, is adventurous in the kitchen and likes to entertain family and friends, doesn't have time to go to pastry school, wants to start a new hobby and/or wants to buy a great gift for a creative friend.
"Boutique - ish" - Like a store front. Not sexy, but chic. Stylish with a bit of whimsy.
Mainly Black and White
with jewel tones (ruby, sapphire, emerald, amber, etc.) to accent
No cartoons in the logo please
Nothing too elegant - I'm not going for a stuffy, couture wedding feel
Please don't use clip art in the logo or stock photos
Here are a few examples of what I like:
Okay, so I don't like the site design... but I like the black and white storefront deal. Take a look at the pic of their business too. It's a bit whimsical.
I like the feel of this site... the black with the bright use of color in the header. Like the logo on the ribbon with the bow.
