Create a logo for a brand new Software Application to help with Dyslexia

Dolphin Computer Access develop software applications to deliver independence to people with visual impairments and dyslexia. We sell software to schools, companies and individuals all over the world.

This contest is to design a logo for a brand new software tool currently under development. This tool will be called 'SaySo' and is designed to assist computer users with Dyslexia or other reading and writing difficulties. The software exists as a toolbar in regular Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Adobe Reader, etc. Words can be read aloud to the user via a text to speech synthesiser and highlighted on screen to help with reading. Other features include advanced spell-checking, lookups for soundalike words and dictionary definitions. Whilst we shall initially target the K12/secondary school market, we hope to offer the product to all age ranges in future so the logo should not be too child-like. The logo should be: - Word AND icon logo (not just the word in a pretty font) though the logo can be built around the name/word). - The graphic should hint at some of the features/functions of the software. - Clean lines (hard edges). - Needs to work on a white background but have the option to create a version for use on black. - Good level of contrast (nothing too pale which might make it hard to read on a white background). - Simple. - Bold colours from our existing palette (no black). - Sans serif fonts only - we currently use Arial in our other product logos. - The product will be translated and sold all around the world so the graphic must not contain text/letters. We are open to creative ideas leaning towards something modern and fun, we do NOT want to focus on 'disability' in any way.
