How Kokiri started their logo design journey
We are a small startup trying to create a community around fan-subbing and video translation. Content providers will be able to post video content to be translated and timecoded by the community. We provide a set of free, innovative video and collaboration tools to help get the job done. We hope to speed up and democratize the labor-intensive process of translating video. Prizes, cash and reputation are at stake!
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our users already interact with one another and collaborate to create subtitles for foreign-language video content (movies, TV shows, etc.). They have existing groups with their own online presence, but don't coordinate well with each other. Individual users are generally younger, though they span ages, worldwide locations and languages spoken.
Fansubbing groups usually comprise of people who have never met or spoken to each other in person, yet spend hours collaborating in order to increase interest in the tv, movies and anime they love to watch. They are an altruistic group of people who are passionate, hard-working and diverse.
We are looking for a logo to represent some of these themes and appeal to a broad base of users. We will likely use the aesthetic and color scheme to brand the whole site, so you should think about that while creating the design.
Things to remember:
1. The fansub community is global and international
2. Designs should elicit a fun, lighthearted hobby
3. We will list projects for people to do, but this should not be overly corporate, professional or 'feel like work'
3. People from many geographies, languages, background come together to create subtitles for their favorite videos
Please feel free to experiment with colors, as we will definitely be skinning the site to match the logos.
