magyar got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Capture the idea of a revolution in hardware design
Check out magyar's Logo design contest…
Modern digital circuits are largely designed using abstracted, text-based representations known as hardware description languages. Chisel is an open-source project launched at UC Berkeley that aims to improve the state of the art in hardware design by layering a hardware description language on top of Scala, an innovative and widely-adopted general-purpose programming language. In the past three years, the rationale for introducing Chisel has been underscored by its use in producing prototype computer processor and digital logic designs for UC Berkeley's computer architecture research. Its main strength over existing competitions is its flexible nature that allows designers to gradually introduce constructs to generate ever more complex and highly parametrized digital circuits. Based on Chisel's role as a tool for developing digital hardware, some of the visual motifs that might work well in the logo include wires, integrated circuit packages, and, of course, an actual chisel.
