We own several concepts in the downtown Tulsa area. Joe Momma's Pizza restaurant, Boomtown Tees, and The Max Retropub are all our concepts on the same block. We're in The Blue Dome District of downtown Tulsa, an entertainment district known for its locally owned restaurants and bars. Music is a big part of what we do and this particular concept will not be any different. In addition to being a slow smoked Memphis style BBQ concept, it will also be one of Tulsa's few dedicated Blues venues.
It is located in the back half of an old brick one story warehouse building. The alley that it opens to runs through the middle of the block and has a brick street. The building is also old red brick with skylights and a concrete floor. We want the place to be gritty and soulful, just like Blues music.
The whole area has a feel like it's been around for a while, even though the developments are new. We'd definitely like the BBQ place to have that same feel. We want it to feel clean and safe, but also very local and like something the locals are proud to know about. The sign will likely be in the alley and I expect it to be blue neon. That may be something to take in to consideration.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our downtown patrons are across the board. We have families during concert and event nights. The baseball stadium is two blocks away. Downtown is the hipster stomping ground at night, but in the daytime is home to nearly 40,000 daytime workers. The place will be cool. That sounds cheesy and trite, but downtown places are known for their cool factor and for their originality. Back Alley Blues will embody that and the logo should as well.
