AwkwardTurtle.com is a social contest site where people submit stories about awkward experiences. Other visitors then vote on their favorite stories. Each contest lasts one week, and the prizes vary from t-shirts to Nintendo Wiis. The site is meant to be fun and is totally free to play. The look and feel is meant to be cute and humorous. If you do not know what the "Awkward Turtle" is, it is a hand gesture you make whenever you experience an awkward moment. (Google it or see attached file.) =) We like to have fun. We want our visitors to have fun and share the fun with their friends.
We are generally targeting college-aged people and maybe even some upper high schoolers. These people all know what the "Awkward Turtle" is and enjoy sharing stories (and have plenty of stories to tell) about awkward moments in their lives. We also want people who enjoy returning to our site just to see who said what next, looking for a good laugh to pass the time. These types of people are those who spend a lot of time on social networks. In fact, our site is fully integrated with Twitter and Facebook expressly for that reason. Our target audience is people who are already using Facebook and Twitter heavily.
The key part of this logo is going to be a turtle. You can find the existing logo at AwkwardTurtle.com (currently redirects to AwkwardTurtle.me) as an example (but not as a guide.) (Or see attached.) That turtle, however, isn't doing much. He's just standing there. I want a turtle that is more appealing, cuter. He needs to be in the middle of something active, and that activity needs to make him seem awkward. Perhaps he's off-balance. Perhaps he's falling or swimming poorly. Be creative. Make me a turtle that is having issues. =) The idea is to illustrate the point of the site, which is that everyone has awkward moments and should be able to laugh at them. The turtle needs to be fun and whimsical. Most importantly, he needs to be a unique character. I may use him in many different parts of the site in different poses and such. The color scheme should match the existing site.
For the text, I'd like a font that is whimsical but not too goofy. Or, if you feel there is too much happening with the turtle himself, maybe anchor it with a plain font. It's really up to you! You're the creative one! =) It should only say "Awkward Turtle" but have the ability to tack a ".com" on the logo somewhere when used off-site. Also, please include the ® symbol as the phrase is my registered trademark.
