What's your vision?
We are looking for a new icon for our HDR Fusion app that captures two differently exposed pictures and merges them to fully detail the highlights and the shadows. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hdr-fusion/id410004158?mt=8 Initially, we had a very specific concept in mind but we recently discovered that the exact concept is already used by a competitor (See IconExample.jpg below). Hopefully, somebody will be able to push the concept one step further or find something even better. Otherwise, we would like that the new icon matches the style of the application toolbar/buttons. Finally, we really like the color scheme used in the screenshots (see ColorScheme.jpg below). Please no text on icon. The required file is a layered Photoshop file which can be exported as PNG files for each of the following resolutions: 1024x1024, 512x512, 144x144, 114x114, 72x72 and 57x57 Even if iOS icons have rounded corners, graphic must not include them. They will be automatically added by Apple (see SquareCorners.png file below).
What about something very similar to icon given in example but instead of tow different tints for the left and right parts of the symbol, one part starts (the arrow) over-exposed (white with almost 100% opacity?) and other part starts under-exposed (black with almost 100% opacity?). Has we go toward the symbol bulges exposure become more and more well exposed (black/white with almost 0% opacity?). A line between the two parts won't probably be needed as only the two "exposure gradient" will make the shape. Background image will could be a simple and very contrasted HDR image like a landscape with clouds (iStockPhoto has nice one and a sample with watermark could be used for now). Over-exposed part (arrow) should start in the picture region area that is normally over-exposed (sky for a landscape picture) and under-exposed part should start in picture region where it would normally has been under-exposed (lower part of a landscape picture). I included a draft that just I did... Fortunately, you master tranparency layers better than me!
