I need a Kindle book cover designed for my debut novel "Welcome to Crum." This novel is the first in a series based on a cast of close-knit neighbors set in a small Texas town. This group of eccentric friends have grown up together and are accustomed to life moving relatively slowly, until one day when a reclusive 80-something-year-old woman asks Earlene, the main character, to watch her cat while she goes out of town. All of the sudden, strange people begin to meddle around and a series of unlikely events follow. Earleen is reminded over and over that she should have never agreed to watch the cat. Nothing good can come from black cats.
What's your vision?
I need a Kindle cover or my first book, titled "Welcome to Crum." The book is told in first person by the main character, Earleen. She and her friends have lived in Crum, Texas their whole life and not much happens in this small town until the old lady across the street asks Earleen to cat sit her evil black cat, Daisy. The events that follow combine humor, mystery and a dash of danger. Since Ruby first moved to their street, she has been rude and un-neighborly, so Earleen is surprised by Ruby's offer to earn a few extra bucks by cat-sitting her precious Daisy. Since Earleen refuses to keep a real job, this offer presents an opportunity to make some quick easy cash. Plus, the opportunity to snoop around Ruby's place is an added bonus. But when Earleen forgets to feed the cat, she and her friend go into the old lady's house and after snooping around, learn that she's involved in pornography and perhaps something even more sinister. Things get out of hand pretty quickly and just when they think they have her figured out, she pulls another fast one on her way out of town.
One idea might be to show a poker table with everyone's hands (both literal and the cards) and then have the cat under the table, clawing at the table cloth leaving it in shreds, and all you can see are the cat's yellow eyes under the table and maybe its tail. Just a thought. Clearly I am not a designer. :) ------------------------------------------------------------- NOTES ABOUT MAIN CAST OF CHARACTERS - CONTEXT ONLY This is a funny book. There are elements of mystery, but more than anything, it's a silly, fun read where I hope readers will fall in love with the characters, as it is very much a character-driven novel. The main characters are: Earleen - lead character, funny, kind of lazy, wants to be a professional poker player, doesn't like to work very hard. Bobby Don - Earleen's good old boy husband. Good natured fellow who is loyal and although he'd never admit it, loves being in the big middle of the drama. Destiny - always wants to do the right thing, cautious, thinks she's a psychic. Collects things, like windmill art. Marsha - large black woman who likes to get out of the house. She's just along for the ride. Collects wigs. Has a smart mouth and routinely loses jobs because of it. Scared senseless of Ruby's black cat. Shirley - foul-mouthed, attractive, large breasted woman who lives one door down from Earleen. Has been married four times and is now in love with one of the cops investigating the old lady. His name is Ben. She also has a collection of naughty t-shirts. Denny - silly, gay fellow who is very intelligent, but very much a smart ass. Says and does things to aggravate all the boyfriends/husbands. He's dating the other cop who's investigating Ruby. HIs name is Toby. Ruby - the 80-something cagey old woman who looks a bit younger, and has a purple tint to her hair. She is somewhat fashionable, and a little uppity, but in the end, is a total con artist. Daisy - Ruby's evil black cat who hisses at everyone who comes near it. Especially Marsha, who is now terrified of all cats, just on principle.
