How v_a_wells started their book cover journey
Who are you known as?
Victoria Wells, author
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
This is a guide to planning your wedding day. However it rejects tradition and cliches. The book explains how weddings don't need to cost the earth and you don't need to keep to tradition. This book is aimed at gay and straight couples who don't want a traditional, religious wedding.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
This is primarily for an e-book, but would also like a back cover and spine designed because I want option to print in future.
The book title is: It’s just a piece of paper: a practical wedding guide for straight and same-sex couples
The front cover must also contain the name of the author: Victoria Wells
The first part of the title should be emphasised - It’s just a piece of paper
I really don't like book covers with photographs on.
I do not like gendered colours (pink/blue)
This is not a mainstream wedding guide whilst it may have the traditional wedding iconography on it, it must be clear that this book will not conform.
The cover should show it is for both gay and straight couples - no rainbow colours however!
To reflect the title it may make reference to the marriage/civil partnership certificate.
Having searched similar wedding guides (9 pages worth in Amazon), I don’t like any of the covers - there is the challenge!
I have attached book covers I like.
