Jan Brinkmann got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Creative eBook cover design for a programming related topic
Check out Jan Brinkmann's Book cover contest…
I have a blog at codingtutor.de where I teach/show people how to start programming.
What's your vision?
I need a eBook cover. I'm writing a book for people who are about to enter the world of programming and need guidance through the vast majority of options they're facing. It should be some kind of "lighthouse" that guides them. I need a cover that can be used as a brand. I have a few more book ideas coming. Those books should be optically related. Therefor it's important that the creative elements can be replaced easily, like an image for example. To give you an idea regarding the branding, here an example from the same publisher: a book about adwords - http://www.amazon.de/Google-AdWords-Das-umfassende-Handbuch/dp/3836221225/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1424685583&sr=8-2&keywords=rheinwerk a book about analytics: - http://www.amazon.de/Google-Analytics-umfassende-Handbuch-AdWords-Integration/dp/3836227312/ref=pd_sim_sbs_b_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0JVF559CEWRFR33Z4QH6 Texts for the cover: - title (german): "Entwickler werden - Ratgeber für Einsteiger" (means translated something like Become a developer - A beginners guide) - author (me): Jan Brinkmann Important: The text should be readable even if the cover is scaled down to a small size (see "related book titles" on amazon.com).
The logo should be used. The cover.ai file is an example that could be used to indicate the programming concept. But: it's just one option. Stockphotos or something like that could be interesting, too.

And then… they selected a winner!
Outstanding and extremely high quality work as always. This is our sixth project with Ale, and we are extremely happy with his hard work and excellent attention to detail. We would highly recommend his services to others and look forward to working with him again.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
