I had a certain design in mind and was very set on the picture in my mind, but after working with Pulp Studio and figuring out my audience I ended up with something so much better. Very professional, on time, and a pleasure to work with. I absolutely recommend using them as their work is impeccable and stunning.

This is a memoir. The topic largely centers around the 18 years I lived in Japan: An African-American who went from humble beginnings in South Central Los Angeles, to unexpected and extraordinary business adventure in Osaka, Japan, with the development of a chain of language schools I founded called, Wisdom21 (thus the title - get it? see title below) After 2 decades of adventure, and too many lessons learned to count, it all came crashing down. Given the level or notoriety the school attained, this is a book that aims to tell the whole story and set the record strait. Note: I would NOT wish to see any "afro-american" symbolic images on the cover. Just my photo - and the title: 21 Years of Wisdom - An extraordinary adventure to Osaka Japan.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
Book Title: "21 Years of Wisdom - One Mans Extraordinary Adventure to Osaka, Japan". I have chosen my face to be on the cover because I think the photo I have is fairly cool, which might make potential readers think "Hey..he looks like a guy with something interesting to say." The other reason I chose my photo is, lets face it, a bit of vanity. I guess the design of the book ultimately involves using the right fonts and putting them in the right place for dramatic appeal - whatever that means. I guess I'll know it when I see it, maybe. Some Asian imagery on the cover might work, especially if it's subtle yet distinctive. There is a lot of SEX, scandal and mob figures in the story. Some deaths, too, so a compelling cover would be nice. I am aware that, with the photo art largely predetermined, there may not be a lot of creative space to maneuver. My name should be on the cover as well: DARRELL GARTRELL
