Murphy's Miracle - One Dog's Wild Journey
This is a middle grade (8 to 12 years old) that is a fictional story about a lost dog, based on a true story. Murphy, a 5 year old golden retriever, was lost in the Tahoe National Forest for almost 2 years. She was finally reunited with her family.
Children 8 to 12 years old - maybe a little older, too.
Book cover type
I've used CreateSpace in the past, and I'll probably use IngramSpark this time. I'm not sure what the differences in the cover design would be due to this difference. The book will be 5x8 inches, and about 250 pages. I was working with a designer who began a design, which I've included in the zip file. I really like it, so I'd like to stay with this idea; however, I'm open to other ideas, too. I love the "nose" picture of the dog. I like that contrast of the "drawn" mountain picture, but I'm not sure the colors are quite right on the first design. I'd love some ideas for that. I love the way the subtitle kind of meanders along the mountains. On the back, I'd like one or two photos of the family, maybe with a frame around it.
What to avoid
We don't need stock imagery for this because I have photos of the dog and the family.

And then… they selected a winner!
SusansArt was very helpful and continued to make requested modifications to the art until it was what I needed. This will be my first work to go through this process and hopefully not the last. I hope we can work together again in the future.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
